John Weitz

Lead Boat Designer

Our houseboat kit concept was born from the lifelong experience of founder John Weitz, a fabricator and marine professional based in the Florida Keys. John began building at age 14 in automotive body and custom shops in Michigan, developing hands-on skills in fabrication, structural design, and finish work before going on to build high-end street rods.

After relocating to the Florida Keys, John transitioned into the marine industry, working his way from sales to Dive Master, Instructor, and ultimately Dive Boat Captain. Operating large catamaran dive boats in offshore conditions gave him a deep appreciation for multihull stability, efficiency, and load-carrying capability.

When John later purchased a small houseboat, he loved the lifestyle—but not its limitations in rougher water. That experience sparked a vision: a more capable, seaworthy houseboat that combined the comfort of home with proven marine design. Over the next 20 years, John built a successful marine wiring and rigging business, gaining extensive insight into what works—and what fails—on real boats.

Working alongside his identical twin brother, an engineer specializing in advanced modeling, John refined and tested his designs through years of hands-on use and real-world iteration. The result is a modular, builder-friendly approach to houseboats—designed for those who want to upgrade an existing pontoon or build from scratch with confidence.

Our kits are built on experience, thoughtful engineering, and the belief that with the right design, anyone can create a capable and comfortable life on the water.
